Can you make natural & unscented hair repair products?

You can do it, believe it or not! O.k. I’m getting a flashback of the song from The Greatest American Hero sitcom, in the 80s… loved that show, any-hoo…

If you have not seen all of my tips, tricks and any other hair care tidbits out there, then here is your chance to get one up on our Raw Botanicals fans.

I have a new favorite shampoo & conditioner repair treatment protocol that I absolutely LOVE!

The protocol uses my Bentonite clay “poo” wash (better known as shampoo), my famous Banana Glistening Hair Balm for an at-home deep conditioning hair mask treatment with a twist.

You all know I love my Bentonite clay. It is an extremely effective and healing, used to not only treat external skin issues, but also with helping internal organ health and balance as well.

Poo Wash Recipe

I am going to start with my hair cleansing “poo” wash recipe, because no matter how thick, thin, wavy or straight your hair is, clean hair is a must prior to a deep conditioning treatment.

Traditionally, I have chosen Bentonite clay in my Medi-Spa skin care line and for my personal at home remedies, because Bentonite clay carries a strong ionic negative charge which attracts itself to substances with positive ionic charges. Why is this important you ask? This uniquely strong ionic negative charge or “magnet” found in Bentonite clay is extremely attracted to heavy metals, impurities and toxins and quite literally, pulls unwanted toxins from the hair, thoroughly cleansing it! It’s such a neat and simple trick, the clay literally absorbs the impurities and just rinses away, leaving a thoroughly cleansed canvas to paint on, and introduce your deep conditioning treatment.

No preservatives, chemical free and detoxifying.

Here’s my “poo” recipe (It’s all that and more):

  • ½ cup Bentonite clay
  • 4 tbs. My fav APV (Apple Cider Vinegar)

Blend the above together, use more or less of each for the amount your hair needs. Mix into a creamy paste, separate hair in sections and apply it with a hair mask brush. Wrap your hair/head in a plastic cap, warm towel or just lie in the sun for up to 20 minutes. (Hey – if you have fine, thin hair like me, you can also just apply and gently scrub this mask into your hair and immediately rinse with warm water).

After 20 minutes, rinse with cool to warm water. Do not rinse with hot water as it can displace the heavy metals. Also, DO NOT use metal bowls, metal spoons and/or metal containers to mix and or store the Bentonite clay, as it diminishes the effect of the clay.

Going Banana's Hair Mask Recipe

So, I hear you all think that Polymers are DA BOMB for deep conditioning, and you want me to help you mix your own Polymers, like PVM? As if!

First, you must have a business license to buy these polymers in bulk. Plastic polymers such as PVP (petrochemical polyvinyl pyrrolidone) and chemical based gum coating agents are the entire basis for many heavy duty and chemical laden hair treatments. And, although I’ve been accused of hoarding essential oils, being stingy with my garden grown mandarins and much more, I’m not about to teach anyone how to use plastics in their personal beauty regime!

Second, Polymers are chemical plastics and proteins that permanently alter the outer layer of the hair shaft. This creates a porous Swiss cheese like hair cuticle. The more porous the hair, the more it absorbs these synthetic “protein” polymers like “soy”, “wheat “or “oat” proteins. The key word here is synthetic. Once this happens, you are S.O.L. and you are going to have to keep using synthetic products that artificially coat the hair with said polymers to make it look and feel undamaged.

Lucky for you miss plastic (I hope you’re really not a “mean girl”), my Bentonite clay “poo” wash will help remove and detoxify your hair of these petro chemicals naturally. Keep in mind, that if you have been using these polymer products for a long time, it will be a process to remove them. So keep up the “poo” washing.

Be naughty and have a little fun, tweet it and post it on Face Book, for example: “I’m washing with Molly’s Raw Botanicals “poo” recipe!”

Enough, next, let’s try this NATURAL & SCENT free deep conditioning recipe baby!

On occasion I can get little crazy and go bananas, when this happens I just gotta give my self my Molly be good, deep banana conditioning hair mask. Follow this next recipe after my “poo” wash and your set to jet.

Going Bananas Hair Mask:

  • 1 Ripe Banana
  • 1 Tbs. Honey
  • 1 Tbs. Castor Oil
  • ¼ C Banana Glistening Hair Balm or a natural hair conditioner

Blend the above together in a blender and apply it to your hair in sections. Concentrate on hair shaft and tips. Then, wrap your hair/head in a plastic cap or warm towel, and leave it on. Do this over night if possible, but if you’re pressed for time, at least 20 minutes. Rinse with cool water, comb though, dry naturally and or blow-dry and flat iron as usual.

Beautiful, shiny luscious locks the Raw Botanicals way, naturally!
