Molly's Tips
Your daily facial regime should always include a good exfoliate before it includes soap! That said at least 4 days of the week your skin needs a deep cleanse using a low pH product, of at least 5.5 in order to keep your skin pH at an optimal acid level. An acidic/non-alkaline pH range helps fight off those pesky and dangerous free radicals. Keep in mind, when your skin has an elevated surface pH level its moisture barrier is compromised; skin conditions like psoriasis and atopic dermatitis (Acne) can become aggravated.
Fun Facts
The Lemon Cleansing Meringue makes an excellent shaving cream for both men and women, just take a smidge and mix with a little water and massage in. Shave as normal rinse and moisturize.
Key Active Concentrate - Glycolic Acid
Perhaps the best-known of a group of fruit acids or alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA’s). At Raw Botanicals our concentrate is sourced from pure Costa Rican citrus fruits, and is used in our formulations to improve the skin’s appearance and texture. It has been known to reduce wrinkles, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation and improve many other skin conditions, including actinic keratosis, hyperkeratosis, and seborrheic keratosis. Once applied, glycolic acid reacts with the upper layer of the epidermis, weakening the binding properties of the lipids that hold the dead skin cells together. This allows the stratum corneum to be exfoliated, exposing live skin cells, revealing underlying smoother looking skin.

Luminous Ingredient - Certified Organic Coconut Glycerin Soap (Cocos Nucifera)
If you’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting our incredible Costa Rican country side, then you are no stranger to the amazing beauty and skin color ranges of its people.
This skin beauty in part is genetic, diet and pure virgin Coconut Oil. Traditionally Central and South American peoples used a version of coconut base glycerin soap for bathing. The natural oils in coconuts are still a large part of what make the physical beauty of Costa Rican skin and hair legendary!
Despite its name, the coconut in not a nut; it’s actually a stone fruit, similar to peaches, apricots, avocados and olives. Our certified organic-based formula means that the oil involved in the production of our glycerin is 100% Costa Rican virgin coconut oil based.
The Costa Rican coconuts harvested for our coconut oil’s used throughout our product range, have been farmed using zero pesticides. We go the extra mile and continue to support the local family that creates our virgin coconut oil and liquid glycerin soap base, by paying them a fair wage for goods, making these lovely products not only organic, but fair trade as well.
How is it made? Most real soaps are made with coconut, palm and olive oils. In authentic soap making, these oils are mixed with sodium hydroxide (or ‘lye’). This mix drives a wonderful and unique molecular transformation that takes place called saponification, a process by which a fat (i.e. the oils) are converted into soap. During saponification, each lye molecule bonds with an oil molecule and makes soap! Delicious!
A by-product of the soap making process is glycerin, a clear, viscous liquid, which dissolves completely in water. This is also how you know you are dealing with a petrol based glycerin (used in most skin care products) versus a natural vegetable based glycerin.
When the glycerin is left in the soap, it makes an incredibly gentle, mild and moisturizing cleanser, and clear from the get-go that it a superior ingredient. It’s not at all strange that glycerin soap users discover that their skin has never felt better!
If you suffer from super-sensitive skin, you may have already heard that dermatologists recommend glycerin soap to their patients for this very reason. It has a silky, low-lather, is gently cleansing and contains no harsh detergents. Exactly the way soap should be.
The magical addition of the coconut oil during the saponification process makes the LEMON CLEANSING MERENGUE a rare treat for heavenly soft, cleansed and balanced skin.
